The stage sector is now seeing what it warned about before. In the cultural sector, many self-employed people work without staff, who were at home for months without income and often started doing other work. Now they are desperately needed, but hard to find. “They have chosen eggs for their money,” explained theater director Joost Kok. “They took the biggest blows during the lockdowns, were not called up and received too little support from the government. And now we are left with the baked pears.”
