Georgia Lambert, 28, living in England, has suffered greatly from her childhood due to her illness. The pain suffered by Geogia, who has been going to the doctor since a very young age, is ignored by the doctors and it is stated that there is no problem in the health of the young woman. After the interventions, Georgia was told that the back of her brain was hanging off her skull and had ‘what looked like fluid-filled cysts in her spinal cord’. A diagnosis of Arnold-Chiari malformation and syringomyelia was made.
“MOST OF THE TIME PEOPLE DID NOT BELIEVE ME”
Both conditions are usually diagnosed at birth and require appropriate monitoring by healthcare professionals when detected. Almost a decade after undergoing emergency brain, spine and neck surgery, Georgia said she was finally reconciled with her body and her life. Speaking to The Sun, Georgia, who now works as a journalist for The Times in London, said she has been in pain for as long as she can remember. He said: “I went in and out of hospitals a lot as a kid, but I eventually grew out of it. I knew the pain I was going through was not normal. A lot of times people wouldn’t believe me and it was a real struggle.” Georgia revealed that she was truly body conscious in school and at one point developed non-healing lesions on her legs.
HIS FAMILY AND HIS FAMILY ABUSED
“I was looking for a makeover in London to cover it up and nothing worked,” she said. He also had severe hypermobility and remembered dislodging his shoulder several times at school. “I would always sit in the first aid room at the school, waiting for my mother to pick me up and take me to the hospital. She said that she had tried a number of treatments in private over the years and that she and her family were abused. they could see.”
PAIN WAS THOUGHT TO CAUSE FROM STRESS
Many said he was ‘too young to suffer’ and by the time he was 17 he had developed fevers on the side of his face. The paramedics even told her family that she was just a ‘stressed young woman’ and had been discharged to child and youth mental health services. Luckily, her counselor realized that her stress had a physical cause and told her mother to request a scan.
DROPPING OF THE BRAIN CAUSED THE FORMATION OF A CYSTS
“After waiting weeks for results, my doctor paused for a breath before starting to articulate the two conditions. He then explained that the back of my brain was hanging outside of my skull, which caused fluid-filled cysts to form on my spinal cord,” Georgia said. He had surgery three weeks after his 18th birthday. “It sounds weird, but I was so excited. I cried, I was so glad I didn’t go crazy. That’s when my spinal cord was emptied.” After the surgery, Georgia wanted to go back to her old life, but she admits she didn’t realize how much damage this would do to her body. The chronic pain he experienced continued after the surgery.
CAN WALK AGAIN BUT THE PAIN CONTINUES
“I still have to deal with a lot of issues like severe tremors in my hands, bony prominences on my spine, and recurrent cerebral palsy, but I can walk again.” Georgia said she can go for a walk on good days, but sometimes there are days when she struggles to make a cup of tea. Georgia said she was ‘determined’ to fight to see chronic pain as a valid disability in hopes of helping others, and ultimately changed the language of pain.
