Already at the end of the opening set, Määtta was able to finish Nuoret Leijonat with superiority to a 2–1 lead as a result of a failed clearance puck.

At the end of the set, Finland got a five-minute advantage when the star player from Slovakia booked by the New York Rangers Adam Sykora tackled Kemelli ugly with a knee. Kemell survived the situation with a start.

Finland took advantage of this situation at the beginning of the second period, when Simontaipale’s shot in front of the goal bounced off Hirvonen’s stick. Later in the second period, Määtta scored another power play goal for Leijon from the corner of the goal from Järventie’s ingenious pass.

In between, Slovakia was already getting a new lease of life Servac Petrovsky with a tiebreaker, which it scored immediately after the end of its two-minute understrength.

At the end of the set, Finland also struck twice with even pitches. First, Räty scored from Kemelli’s pass, after which Oliver Kapanen managed to pass through.
