After the Fallout series, Amazon Prime wants to offer viewers a video game film adaptation in series form in 2024. This time they are using a Japanese franchise and bringing Yakuza into the living room.
What is Like a Dragon: Yakuza? The SEGA franchise started in 2005 on the PS2 and tells the story of Yakuza member Kazuma Kiryu. With over 20 main parts and spin-offs, the series has gone wild and even relied on bizarre settings. Next, there are even pirates.
Now follows a series that mainly deals with the events from part 1. This is not the only film adaptation of the material. In 2007, Yakuza – Like a Dragon, a film by Takeshi Miike, was released.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza starts on October 24, 2024. The series will not be released in its entirety on this day. The series appears in 6 episodes. 3 episodes will be released on October 24th. The remaining 3 will be released on November 1st.

What is the plot of Like a Dragon: Yakuza?
The Amazon series adapts the first game in the series. It’s about Kazuma Kiryu, who goes to prison in 1995 for the murder of his Yakuza boss. The series is told in two timelines.
1995 shows the relationship between Kiryu and Nishikiyama and how the two rookies fare within the Yakuza.
In 2005, Kiryu comes out of prison and is now away from the Yakuza. But his past catches up with him and his former friends have also changed.
