Even before the start of the beta of the new World of Warcraft expansion, Blizzard is listening to the players. A hero talent tree will be significantly changed.
The upcoming expansion “The War Within” begins a new, major chapter in the story of World of Warcraft. But a lot will also change in the classes, after all all classes will have access to new, additional talent trees. Blizzard has already introduced some of these “hero talents” in advance. But the community’s feedback on one of these trees was so negative that they thanked you for the feedback and promised: Improvements will be made.
What did Blizzard say? A few weeks ago the developers introduced the “Oracle” tree for Holy and Discipline priests. However, the feedback from the players was quite dissatisfied, which is why Blizzard now wrote in the official WoW forum:
Thanks to everyone who gave us feedback on the Oracle talent tree.
One of our goals is to share these hero talents as early as possible so that we have enough time to evaluate things and make changes if necessary. After reading your feedback, discussing the talent tree, and testing the concept internally, we have decided to take another look at the Oracle tree, particularly with regard to replacing Soul of Power.
What was the problem with the oracle tree? There was a lot of criticism from the fans and there seemed to be a relative consensus, especially among the priests, that the oracle talent tree won’t really play smoothly. The most common criticisms were:
Replacing Soul of Power with a new effect feels wrong. Soul of Power is simply too strong to replace. This immediately makes the talent tree feel like a bad choice.
The new spell had 3 different effects that occur in temporal rotation. This makes cooldown management even more complicated and discourages even more people from playing Priest at all.
What will Blizzard change? What exactly the developers want to change is not yet entirely clear. They simply pointed out that the talent tree is being revised again, “especially with regard to the exchange of Soul of Power”. At least it sounds like Soul of Power will probably not be replaced in the future.
It remains to be seen whether the random element of the spell, in which the applied buff is changed every few seconds, will also be removed.
