The world’s most expensive cars are usually timeless classics with a hard-to-match history, which are sold for unimaginable sums at exclusive auctions.
But which is the most expensive car you can buy if you are only interested in brand new cars? Here is the leaderboard for 2024.

The world’s most expensive car: Rolls-Royce Droptail
When it comes to the world’s most expensive cars, the focus is largely on performance, but the most expensive car on the list instead focuses on sheer opulence.
The car is the Rolls-Royce Droptail, which is a large GT convertible limited to an edition of just four cars. Each car comes with a specially designed watch that can also be worn on the arm.

The model is built on a specially designed aluminum chassis with lavish elements of wood in its design. The inspiration comes from boats and hot rods.
So far, three of the four cars have been presented with the names La Rose Noire, Amethyst and Arcadia. They all have their own character and coloring.
The price is not official, but rumors say that the car costs north of SEK 300 million.

The world’s most expensive hypercars
The Rolls-Royce Droptail is quite different from the rest of the absolute top tier of new cars. The focus is not on performance, the edition is limited to just four examples, and the actual price tag is difficult to confirm.

1. Pagani Huayra Codalunga
In first place among the hypercars, we find a genuine hypercar in the form of the Pagani Huayra Codalunga, which is the brand’s last farewell to its second model Huayra, which has now been replaced by the new Utopia.
The car has a classic appearance with a new, elongated rear section that is a tribute to the racing cars of the 60s. The sleek exterior also means that the car glides through the air with less resistance than before.

The engine is the same 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 from AMG as in the regular Huayra, with the output cranked up to 840 horsepower – 110 horsepower more than in the standard car.
The price tag of over SEK 70 million means that the Pagani Huayra Codalunga is the world’s most expensive hypercar.
2. Bugatti Mistral
Bugatti has been at the forefront of hypercars since the launch of the Veyron 19 years ago, and the brand’s currently most expensive model is called the Mistral.

The Bugatti Mistral is the last model the brand will build with its legendary W16 quad-turbo engine.
The effect is 1,577 horsepower, and for the party you have to pay just over SEK 50 million.
3. Bugatti Bolide
Third place is also occupied by a Bugatti, this time in the form of the extreme trackday car Bolide.
The car has an extreme body with lots of wings and fins to get around a racing track in the shortest possible time with maximum grip.

With a weight of less than 1.5 tons and an output of 1,577 horsepower from the same W16 engine as in the Mistral, the car undoubtedly offers astonishing performance.
The price tag is around SEK 45 million, and then you are not even allowed to drive the car on public roads.
4. Gordon Murray Automotive T.50s Niki Lauda
Another car restricted to racetracks is the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 Niki Lauda.
The car is developed by the legendary Formula 1 constructor Gordon Murrayand the name is a tribute to Niki Lauda who is one of the biggest Formula 1 stars ever.

The car is one of the most focused hypercars on the market thanks to a fan that sucks the car into the track for extra grip, as well as its extremely light construction.
The car is also equipped with giant wings for extra grip in fast corners, and the engine is a 3.9-liter V12 with an output of 725 horsepower.
The price tag is around SEK 42 million.
5. Koenigsegg CC850
In fifth place we find a car from Koenigsegg, the Swedish pride from Ängelholm.
It is about the model CC850 which was launched last year and is inspired by the brand’s first model CC8S.
The engine is a twin-turbo V8 of 5.0 liters which is connected to a unique gearbox that can be driven both with a manual gear lever and in the modern way with paddle shifters.

The output if you run the engine on E85 is 1,385 horsepower, which ensures a 0-100 time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 450 km/h.
The model became so popular that Koenigsegg decided to increase production by 20 examples after the original edition immediately sold out. This despite a price tag of around SEK 40 million.
