The fastest woman in the world Sha’Carri Richardson is the most controversial all-around athlete of the moment.
The 23-year-old American is extremely fast. On the other hand, he is a sprinter who causes a lot of trouble here and there.
100m SE man Samuli Samuelsson admits that Richardson ups the entertainment value.
– As a person, he is not my personal favorite, but he doesn’t always have to be. We need unique personalities to add color to the games.
Earlier this week, Richardson became the world champion in the 100 meters in his first senior championships.
Richardson wouldn’t be Richardson if he hadn’t caused a stir in Budapest as well. After the hundredth final, Richardson gave comments only to black journalists. At the post-competition press conference, he berated reporters who mispronounced his name or questioned his performance in the semifinals.
– No thanks, no thanks, no thanks, Richardson, who had cooled down after the interview points, was content to say after his World Cup gold run.
This isn’t the first time Richardson has been at the center of controversy.
Cannabis cart
Richardson’s speed has long been known. Four years ago, the then 19-year-old talent clocked the third fastest time in the world statistics with 10.75.
Two years later, it really broke down.
Richardson first ran his tough record of 10.72 in the spring. Later that year, he won his first title in his country’s hard-level championships and booked a place at the Tokyo Olympics.
However, Richardson never made it to Tokyo. The super talent failed a doping test for using cannabis. The World Anti-Doping Agency Wada has classified cannabis on the list of prohibited substances.
Richardson said his biological mother had died just a few weeks earlier. He justified the use of cannabis by saying that he wanted to relieve the pain caused by his mother’s death. The mother had adopted Richardson away when he was little.
Bolt chided
Richardson returned to competition after the Olympics in the Oregon Diamond League. It was at this point at the latest that he began to create an antagonism between him and the Jamaican star runners, By Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson-Herah mixed by Sherica Jackson between.
The trio had stormed to a triple victory in the women’s 100 meters at the Tokyo Olympics.
– I rested for a while, and now it’s time to play, guys, Richardson wrote on his Instagram account.
The Jamaicans were better in that race and Richardson was the slowest of the whole group.
This is where the world’s fastest man of all time, the Jamaican, meets Usain Bolt wanted to reach out to the US.
– I would urge him to train harder and focus on the essentials. Big words call for big actions. Then speak when there is a reason, Bolt instructed The New York Post by.
The following year in Oregon, Richardson had the opportunity to compete in his first home World Championships in the United States. However, the 2022 season became a complete passing season for him.
In his country’s championships, he was several tenths short of his record and didn’t even make it to the finals.
Richardson also showed his squeamish attitude towards the media. The young superstar did not answer a single question after his heat run. Instead, he stopped to give a quick sermon.
– You can all take the interview and do what you want with it. When you all do interviews, you should respect the athletes more. Athletes deserve a lot more respect than you shoving a camera in front of them.
– You have to understand how the athlete works and only then ask your questions. This will help you better understand the fact that athletes have preceded people, regardless of the fact that you’re all trying to come up with something worth posting to make a dollar. Thank you.
The episode on the plane
At the beginning of the year, Richardson’s story took on new dimensions when he caused a commotion on a plane. The incident came to light when the athlete posted the videos he shot on the plane on Instagram.
The flight attendant came to ask Richardson, who was filming himself, to stop filming, which started a long argument.
– The video shows how you behave, the annoyed runner replied to stuert.
One passenger expressed frustration with Richardson’s behavior. Richardson wondered if they didn’t know who he was.
Finally, the captain of the plane asked Richardson to leave the plane and the flight finally started. The woman threatened the airline company with legal action.
The track helped
So Richardson knows how to cause noise around him. For one reason or another, his name has been on the lips of people who follow athletics less.
On Instagram, he is one of the most popular track and field athletes with over two million followers.
Richardson has also collected plenty of critics and doubters. Richardson silenced the doubters, at least for a while this week.
He overshadowed Jackson and Fraser-Pryce, who were considered the early favorites, and became the surprise champion of the 100 meters with a wild race record of 10.65. For that, he is tied for fifth place in the all-time statistics.
Samuelsson, who was following the sprint very closely, saw that Richardson, who was running on the ninth track, had taken the place of the American. He didn’t have to run among the other stars.
– Usually when there have been other tough guys around, he hasn’t beaten them or been able to achieve top results. When he got to run track nine, he got to do his own run.
– I can relate well to the same situation, says Samuelsson.
Perfect technique
Whether or not he has an advantage at the running back position, Richardson is made to be a sprinter. Sprint coach Jussi Ihamäki fumed Richardson’s running technique on Twitter.
Samuelsson is on the same lines.
– By far the best technology. Absolutely superior. I don’t see anything wrong with that. It is so beautiful to the eye.
Samuelsson says Richardson’s step contact is extremely quick.
– Step contact is extremely fast. The foot is like a whip when you hit it on the ground. It doesn’t spend any extra time on the ground. His hips stay on top of the run all the time.
– In the last meters, many people’s hips start to tilt, but his running position remains perfect until the end.
The new ME woman?
The women’s 100m world record has already passed by Florence Griffith-Joyner unimaginably hard 10.49. He ran it in 1988.
There have also been quite a few rumors about Richardson’s training. Former sprint star Justin Gatlin raved a year ago that he’s seen Richardson run times in the 10.3-10.5 range.
– We are probably talking about training times, which are timed with a wristwatch. Not electronically, says Samuelsson.
Could Richardson one day break the legendary 100m ME time?
– I don’t see that anyone is interested in that, Samuelsson laughs.
However, the skeptical Finnish runner leaves the small back gate.
– I don’t see that anyone breaks it (10.49). In absolutely optimal conditions and with a good run, it is possible. I have considered it the kind of record that will never be broken, but it has been broken before.
Sha’Carri Richardson will run today, Friday, in the women’s 200m final at 10:40 p.m.
