The world’s best golfer and Ludvig Åberg’s rival arrested by police in the middle of the major competition

World number one Scottie Scheffler was arrested on Friday by police, according to Sky Sports.
The American was on his way to the Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky, where the PGA Championship is currently being decided, when he was stopped by police and arrested.

According to ESPN, it is about an incident where the world number one did not follow the instructions of the police when a queue was formed after a fatal accident.

Scottie Scheffler tried to pass a police car, which was not allowed and the police then allegedly asked the 27-year-old to stop. The world number one was then arrested and taken into a police car.

In a video on X, from ESPN journalist Jeff Darlington, a police officer is heard saying: “He’s going to jail right now. He’s going to jail, and there’s nothing you can do about it,” see the video below.

Despite that, Scheffler must have already been released.

The queue was caused by a fatal accident at the track, where a person has died after being hit by a bus. This is stated by ESPN according to AP.

Due to the fatal accident, the start of the second round was postponed for one hour and 20 minutes. Thus, the second round begins at 14.35, Swedish time. It confirms the competition on its X account. Scheffler kicks off at 4:08 p.m. There is no information that the arrest will affect Scheffler’s participation in the competition.

Scheffler is in twelfth place after the first round in the major competition, and is the big advance favorite.

The American has dominated golf in recent months, winning four of his last five starts. Including the US Masters, for the second time in his career.

Ludvig Åberg tees off at 20:38 this evening, but is a full ten strokes behind leader Xander Schauffele.
