The world writes about the protests against Sweden

The planned burning of the Koran in Sweden and the storming of the embassy in Baghdad are getting a lot of attention in the media around the world.

Italy’s biggest daily newspapers Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica peak with the news that the embassy in Baghdad has been stormed by protesters. Corriere della Sera writes that “supporters of the Shia Muslim preacher Muqtada al-Sadr are protesting against Sweden’s second Koran burning in just a few weeks”.

French Le Figaro writes that “smoke billowed from the roof of the Swedish embassy.”

Arabic Al-Jazeera reports that videos on social media show protesters at the embassy waving flags and pictures of Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr.

The New York Times and the British Guardian are also paying attention to the event.
