Mother Beatrix Barsony Arcidiacono told the Associated Press (AP) that her daughter had received “threats” after the pagers exploded in Lebanon.
“UNDER THE PROTECTION OF THE HUNGARY SECRET SERVICE”
Anne Arcidiacono said Cristiana Barsony Arcidiacono, the CEO of BAC Consulting KFT, the Hungarian firm that was found to have sold pagers that were detonated in Lebanon, went to a “safe place protected by the Hungarian secret services” after receiving threats.
The mother, who said Hungarian authorities had advised her daughter Cristiana not to speak to the media, said her daughter had no role in detonating the pagers, but was merely “instrumental” in doing so.
“HE WAS JUST A MEDIUM”
“He was not involved in any way, he was just an intermediary. The goods did not pass through Budapest, they were not produced in Hungary,” Beatrix Barsony Arcidiacono said.
Anne Arcidiacono stated that her daughter was born on the island of Sicily, received her undergraduate education at the University of Catania and then went to London, the capital of England, to do her doctorate.
Arcidiacono also said that her daughter Cristiana worked in Paris, France, and Vienna, Austria, before moving to Budapest, Hungary, in 2016 to care for her grandmother.
Cristiana Barsony Arcidiacono, who is shown on her account on the social business networking platform LinkedIn to have completed her doctorate at University College London (UCL), worked with Akos Köver, a retired professor of physics at UCL, according to this account.
“I WAS NOT AWARE OF HIS OTHER ACTIVITIES”
Akos Köver told the AP that they had published joint articles and said, “I am not aware of Cristiana’s other activities.”
MOSSAD CLAIM
It was revealed that Hungarian national Cristiana, who took part in the supply of exploding pagers to Lebanon and allegedly worked for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, served as a consultant as an “external expert” at the European Union (EU) Commission Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in 2021-2023.
Cristiana admitted to the US-based NBC channel that she worked for BAC Consulting KFT, the Hungarian firm that was found to have sold pagers that were detonated in Lebanon, and that the firm was an “intermediary” in supplying thousands of pagers to Lebanon.
