Prisoner exchange and ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, are not reaching any conclusion. US National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby, in his statement regarding the latest situation in the negotiations, stated that the negotiations ended without an agreement for now and said, “Frankly, we could not reach an agreement, and this is extremely sad.”
“WE FOLLOW WITH CONCERN”
Stating that the USA believes that the disagreements can be overcome, Kirby said, “Although face-to-face talks have ended, we are working hard to continue negotiations, even in a virtual environment. We still believe that an agreement is possible.”
Referring to the Israeli attacks in the city of Rafah, Kirby said that the operation was not large-scale and said, “We are following it with concern. We once again call on the Israelis to open the Rafah border to humanitarian aid.”
