The world stars’ huge tribute to Andreas Palicka just gives all Swedes goosebumps: “I wish to…”

Andreas Palicka has been a giant for Sweden in the WC so far.
Now he is celebrated – also in Denmark.
– He makes saves that the rest of us can’t, says star goalkeeper Jannick Green to SVT.

Andreas Palicka has reached the age of 37 but completely dominates in this year’s handball EC. When Sweden played the group final against the Netherlands earlier this week, the Swedish goalkeeper Tobias Thulin also had a good game, but it was the veteran Palicka who stepped forward when it was needed most.

The Danish super tribute

Palicka made three directly decisive super saves in the final two minutes, as the Netherlands pushed for an equaliser. Palicka’s saves stunned the entire handball world, and he became a big hero in that Sweden won the match, and took two important points to the next group stage round, where much more difficult opposition awaits.

And now Palicka is also celebrated in neighboring Denmark. The Danes are big favorites to win the EC, and have, among other things, a goalkeeper set-up that is the best in the world. Palicka’s teammate in PSG, Jannick Green, is one of the world’s best goalkeepers, but still just had to see himself poked out of the EC squad. Now he comes with a super tribute to his colleague Pallicka.

– Being around Palicka is an experience that I wish more people could be a part of. It is exciting every day to work with him. He can almost fly forward, says Green to SVT.

“He is unique”

Green believes that what makes Palicka so difficult to face is the way he constantly reads the game and his opponents.

– He has a special mindset. He is one of the best in the world and his intensity and level of excitement is incredible. He stands supreme and is inside the players’ heads. A technically skilled goalkeeper. Not many people have the same style as him. He is unique and makes saves that the rest of us can’t.

Palicka is also highly praised by world star Luka Karabatic, who is also a regular at PSG.

– He is one of the world’s best goalkeepers with enormous experience. Since he came to Paris, I have also discovered the man Andreas. He is a nice guy who I have a lot of fun with. We get along well and try to make every day more fun, he says.
