The needle has begun to tip in Ukraine’s favor in the war between Ukraine and Russia that has been going on for years without yielding any significant results. Having difficulty overcoming Russian positions, Ukraine made an unexpected move and launched an attack on Russia’s Kursk region.
VIOLENT CONFLICTS HAVE BEEN CONTINUING FOR 6 DAYS
While Russian military forces continue to oppose Ukrainian soldiers entering the Kursk region, Ukrainian troops have allegedly advanced and taken some settlements in the region.
The clashes between the two armies, which began after the Ukrainian army entered Russian territory in Kursk on August 6, have been continuing for 6 days.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that Ukrainian soldiers’ attempts to advance were thwarted, adding that “the Ukrainian army lost nearly 230 soldiers and 38 armored vehicles in the last 24 hours.”
“The Ukrainian army has lost 1,350 soldiers, 29 tanks, 23 armored personnel carriers, 9 infantry fighting vehicles, 116 armored vehicles and 20 cars since August 6,” the statement said.
The ministry’s statement also noted that 14 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and four “Tochka-U” tactical missiles were shot down by Russian air defense systems over the Kursk region.
THE NEEDLE HAS TURNED REVERSE IN THE WAR!
On the other hand, while the Kiev administration did not share any information about the attack it launched on Kursk, news on social media claimed that Ukrainian soldiers were advancing in the direction of the city of Kursk and seized 350 square kilometers of Russian territory.
Local media reported that Ukrainian troops had entered the villages of Goncharovka and Olesnya in the Kursk region. Images of Ukrainian troops raising flags in these villages were shared on social media.
It was also claimed that fortifications have begun to be built south of the city of Kurchatov, where the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is located.
According to some Ukrainian sources, there are at least 3 Ukrainian brigades in the Kursk region. It is stated that each brigade consists of approximately 2,000 soldiers, and one of these brigades is the 80th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
RUSSIA: NUMBER OF INJURED RISES TO 69
Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko told reporters that the number of people injured in the Ukrainian army’s attacks on the region had increased, saying, “69 people are receiving treatment in hospital. Eight of them are children and 17 of them are in serious condition. The necessary medical support is being provided to the injured.”
The Russian Emergencies Ministry also announced that 80 tons of humanitarian aid was delivered to the Kursk region.
RUSSIAN SOLDIERS TAKEN CAPTURED
It was claimed that the soldiers, including Chechens, came to the region from Grozny.
The images of Russian soldiers being taken prisoner are being interpreted by the world community as evidence that Ukraine is advancing.
MORE THAN 76 THOUSAND PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED
After the Ukrainian army launched its attacks on the Russian Kursk region on August 6, violent clashes broke out between the two armies.
It was reported that more than 76,000 people were evacuated from the region, where the situation was raised to the level of “federal emergency” and a counter-terrorism situation was declared.
