According to a report published in the Israeli press, Austin’s visit was postponed to an unknown date.
An unnamed Israeli official said Austin’s visit was postponed due to rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah over the explosion of pagers and radios in Lebanon.
US Defense Secretary Austin reportedly plans to visit Israel to discuss tensions with Hezbollah.
BLOWING UP PAGERS AND RADIO COMMUNICATIONS IN LEBANON
On September 17, simultaneous explosions occurred in pagers used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon. The explosions killed 12 people, including two children, and injured 2,323 people.
On September 18, 25 people were killed and more than 608 people were injured as a result of the explosion of many radios in the country.
While Lebanese authorities hold Israel responsible for the incident, Israel has yet to make a statement on the issue.
There have been occasional violent clashes between the sides on the Israel-Lebanon border since October 8, 2023.
