The World Health Organization pressures China to share the countrys

The rapid increase in infections has raised international questions and concerns about the information shared by China on the matter.

The World Health Organization WHO has discussed the country’s corona infection situation with the Chinese authorities. In Friday’s discussions, WHO stressed the importance of real-time information as infections spread explosively in China.

According to the organization’s press release, the WHO repeated its request to China to regularly receive detailed and real-time information on the country’s epidemiological situation. Information is also needed on the number of vaccinations given and especially on how high the vaccination coverage is for those in a vulnerable position and those over 60 years of age.

China has rejected suspicions that it was not open in sharing corona information to the international community. According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since the outbreak of the corona epidemic, the country has “shared relevant information and statistics with the international community, including the WHO.”

The number of corona infections in China has increased after the country lifted its strict corona restrictions earlier this month. The rapid increase in infections has raised international questions and concerns about the information shared by the country on the matter. The numbers for infections and corona-related deaths have been low, even though hospitals and morgues are overburdened. For example, on Friday, China reported about 5,000 new corona infections and one corona-caused death.

According to the UN health organization, the purpose of Friday’s meeting was to get more information about the situation and offer China WHO’s expertise and support for the situation.
