The third day of the U.S. Athletics Championships culminated in a stunning performance by Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin in the 400-meter hurdles.

EUGENE. Olympic winner Sydney McLaughlin has once again broken the world record in the 400-meter hurdles. McLaughlin, who won the U.S. championship show style in Eugene, Oregon, clocked 51.41.

He improved the ME time in his own name by 0.05 seconds. He ran the previous ME in the Tokyo Olympics last summer.

McLaughlin curved forward effortlessly and increased his superior lead before the finish line.

The audience at Hayward Field, bathed in temperatures above 30 degrees, cheered as the field clock stopped at ME time.

McLaughlin told reporters after the race that the last fence still didn’t know he was at a world record pace.

– I just focused on running to the end. Anything is possible and I think the sky is the limit. I’m really grateful for everything, McLaughlin said.

The top three in each sport will be represented at the World Championships if they meet the selection criteria. Sixth place means Felix will not get a World Championship spot for a personal 400m, but will join the U.S. message group.

Men’s 400 meters Michael Norman rushed to his record by winning a peak time of 43.56. The result is the top result in the world for the season. Norman’s record of 43.45 is the fourth hardest time ever.

The runner-up has previously won Olympic gold in the 4×400-meter post, but still lacks a personal medal.

A world record woman for quick fences Keni Harrison paved the way for the U.S. championship at a season-high of 12.34. Harrison’s ME of 12.20 is from 2016.

The third day of the U.S. Championships saw tough results outside of the treadmills as well. Daniel Haugh beat the men’s hammer with a record 80.18 and the U.S. record female Keturah Orji women’s triple jump with a score of 14.79.

The US Championships end late Sunday night Finnish time. The events on the closing day were brought forward by a couple of hours due to the heat. The last species are in the program at midnight Finnish time.
