The wonder of the Alps: Silvia, 22, belly-landed between mountain peaks

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

In the middle of the mountain peaks, at an altitude of 2,100 meters, the flight ended for the 22-year-old pilot Silvia De Bon and the two passengers, her brother Mattia and his girlfriend Georgia.

It was after a holiday in northern Italy that Silvia chose to make a final flight over the mountain range of the Dolomites in the Italian Alps.

But the cold air and low air pressure led to engine problems and the plane rapidly losing altitude.

As a last resort, Silvia realized she had to make a belly landing and aimed for a snow-covered slope between two mountain peaks.

The move saved the lives of all three on board – but Silvia herself cannot remember what happened after the crash. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while the other two passengers escaped unharmed.

Despite the accident, Silvia De Bon is not deterred from flying in the future. She says that her father Ettore wants her to stop flying, but that the accident could have happened to anyone and that she tells him: “If all the people who get into a car accident stopped driving, no one would drive anymore”.

She also says that her dream is to become a pilot for an airline.
