Prosecutor Karin Fogelström decided to release the woman after new interrogations.
– The preliminary investigation is still ongoing, the prosecutor told the newspaper.
The suspicions against the woman remain, but are not strong enough for her to continue to be detained.
The incident, which SVT Nyheter Småland has previously told about, occurred on the night of Tuesday at a hotel in Växjö. After the child was found dead, a criminal investigation was launched.
The child will undergo a forensic examination to determine the cause of death.
