The condition of the ten-year-old girl who was stabbed in Brunnsparken in Gothenburg at lunchtime on Thursday remains serious, but stable.
A stranger attacked the girl and her grandmother, who were slightly injured.
According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the man is a serial criminal with mental problems. The man, who is 36 years old, was stopped and wrestled down by the public before he could be arrested by the police.
Witness tells about the trauma
Villemo was one of the first on the scene and got to see how the grandmother fought the man – and how a wise intervention might have saved the ten-year-old girl’s life.
– I see how the woman is pulled by the hair, until a man comes forward and grabs the perpetrator and pulls him to the ground, sits on top of him and holds him super hard, she says.
The incident was traumatic for Villemo, who took it upon himself to call 112.
– She was so small. A little, little girl on the ground and there was so much blood. It was so hard.
No relationship
The 36-year-old man and the girl are not related and it is still unclear to the police why he attacked her.
– At the moment, I do not have a motive image. A large number of witnesses have been heard. What emerged in the interrogation of the man is not something I can say anything about, says Peter Adlersson, press spokesperson for the police.
