If there is one license that has made the CD Projekt Red studio known around the world, it is The Witcher, and more precisely its third episode which continues to sell again and again. The company’s latest financial results have revealed new sales figures and we learn that The Witcher 3 has crossed the 50 million mark sold worldwide since its release 8 years ago, in 2016. It’s as much as the overall sales of Red Dead Redemption 2 (which nevertheless managed to reach this figure more quickly), but it proves the continued interest of a game which has received its update next gen not long ago. It must be said that the Netflix series has allowed the game to experience a new youth, and thus to allow it to rank among the 10 best-selling video games in history. While CD Projekt Red’s turnover fell by 19% to 38.7 million euros, the Polish studio recorded net income up 1% to 15.4 million euros. The future for CD Projekt Red will be Cyberpunk 2077 which will be back with its Phantom Liberty expansion, and which we will see at Summer Game Fest in a few weeks, while a remake of The Witcher is also in full production, with a team of more than 220 people. Suffice to say that these two licenses will continue to tell us stories in the coming years.
