The wish of more than 250 super rich for the Davos

The super-rich point out that if growing economic inequality is not addressed, the consequences for societies will be catastrophic.

More than 250 billionaires and millionaires claim in his open letterthat their wealth would be taxed to fund public services around the world.

The super-rich present their wishes in an open letter to the World Economic Forum, a gathering of economic and political elites in Davos, Switzerland.

– Our request is simple, we ask you to tax us, the richest in society, the letter says. The super-rich point out that the tax would not substantially change their standard of living, deprive them of their children or affect the economic growth of their countries.

However, it would turn an extremely large and unproductive private asset into an investment in our shared democratic future.

The super-rich point out that if the dramatic increase in economic inequality is not addressed, the consequences for societies will be catastrophic.

They emphasize that the trickle-down effect theory of the economy has not been realized. According to the theory, tax relief for the highest income groups also improves the position of the poorest as income and capital flow downwards.

However, the model has led to stagnant wages, crumbling infrastructure, weak public services and the erosion of democracy, the super-rich say.

– It has created a shameful economic system that cannot bring a brighter and more sustainable future.

Among the signatories of the letter drawn up under the leadership of the Patriotic Millionaires coalition are, among others, the heir of the Disney company Abigail Disneya member of the Rockefeller family, one of the richest in the United States Valerie Rockefeller and Scottish actor Brian Coxsay online newspapers Spears and The Guardian.

According to a survey of more than 2,300 millionaires conducted by the Proud to Pay more campaign in December, 74 percent of millionaires support higher wealth taxes. 75 percent support the global two percent tax on billionaires that was presented in the EU.
