Françoise Hardy was a French artist that the prestigious Rolling Stone magazine qualified for its list of the best singers of all time in 2023.
Famous French singer, songwriter, model and actress Françoise Hardy has died at the age of 80, his son said early Wednesday Finnish time on his Instagram account.
Hardy was one of the biggest names in the yé-yé pop wave popular in France in the 1960s.
He was the only French artist whose prestigious Rolling Stone magazine qualified for their list of the best singers of all time in 2023. His first hit Tous les Garçons et les filles appeared already in 1962.
The following year, Hardy represented Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest. He finished fifth with the song L’amour s’en va.
Hardy’s last recording was Personne d’autre, released in 2018.
Hardy had cancer since 2004. He said in an interview with Paris Match magazine last year that he wanted to “leave soon and quickly, without much suffering”.
