The summer of 2024 looks like it could be an expensive story for many holiday-hungry Swedes. The Swedish krona remains weak, interest rates remain high and food in grocery stores remains expensive.

Every chance to be able to expand the cash register can therefore be felt as welcome.

But what can you actually do to bring in a few extra thousand pounds? News24 asked Frida Bratt who is a savings economist at Nordnet Bank. She had several tips, one of which is especially important to remember.

Even on the flight price front, there will be winners and losers this summer, this is shown by data that the travel search engine Momondo produced based on flight searches.

According to the forecast for the summer of 2024, there appears to be a week in August where the prices of flights will be considerably much cheaper – especially if you compare it to the most expensive flight week.

– Week 34, starting on 19 August, should be the most affordable week to travel to destinations within and outside Europe, says Per ChristiansenSenior Vice President and travel expert at Momondo, to Nyheter24.

44 percent cheaper than the most expensive week

Generally speaking, the later summer weeks tend to be the most wallet-friendly, with July and the end of June accounting for the highest prices.

This also applies to summer 2024:

– With an average flight price of SEK 2,102, travelers to European destinations can save around 44 percent compared to the most expensive travel week, which is currently week 27, starting on July 1, says Christiansen.
