The web version of Snapchat is now available to all users, not just paid subscribers. Anyone can enjoy it on computer and even make audio and video calls.

After several months of testing, Snapchat is now available on web browsers for all users, and not just for subscribers to the paid Snapchat+ plan. As a reminder, this subscription at 3.99 euros/month allows users to obtain special badges, to pin a “best friend”, and offers new exclusive functions as well as early access. If this web version does not bring new options, it includes those that have made the success of the social network – which has more than 332 million users worldwide.

Snapchat for the web: simple but effective functions

To access Snapchat on computer, just go to the web address snapchat.com and connect to their account so that the conversations are synchronized. Be careful though, the social network is only supported by Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Once there, the user finds the different groups he follows, the chats, and can send photos and videos with filters – which are then applied to the computer camera. Another popular option are audio and video calls – according to the press release published by Snapchat in July, 100 million people use the social network every month to call friends. Moreover, the fact of being able to be in video and to chat on the same screen is rather appreciable. Other than that, no new features have been added – Snapchat remains primarily a social network designed for smartphones.

The yellow social network took the opportunity to announce its new widgets compatible with the lock screen of iPhones under iOS 16. We can thus pin a widget giving access to a particular conversation. Another will serve as a shortcut to the app’s camera to send a Snap faster. Finally, all widgets can serve as a reminder for birthdays and unanswered messages.
