The web version of Google Photos now allows you to automatically back up your folders from your computer. No need to manually add your photos and videos every time!
If you have an Android phone, you probably use the Google Photos app to store all your online photos and videos on the internet giant’s servers. A handy tool that automatically stores captured images in albums, which can then be shared with loved ones. Over time, the software has become much more than a simple storage and organization tool, to the point of becoming a true platform for editing and managing multimedia content.
To make life easier for users, the Web version of Google Photos has an automatic backup function, directly linked to desktop folders. No need to manually upload your photos and videos anymore! The software connects to previously selected folders and synchronizes the online version as soon as you log in to the web application.
Google Photos: how to use automatic backup?
To activate this service, simply go to the Google Photos website, where a notification should appear, inviting you to “automatically back up your computer’s folders“. If this window does not appear, you must click on the “Import” button located on the toolbar, at the top right of the screen. In the drop-down menu, you must then click on “Folder backup “, then authorize Google Photos to see the files stored on the computer desktop. All that remains is to select the folder(s) to synchronize. Each time you connect, the tool will detect new photos and videos and will transfer.
Subsequently, it will be possible to add other folders by following the same procedure. Please note, unlike Google Drive, Google Photos does not work in the background. It is therefore necessary to log in regularly for synchronization to take place. But for those looking for a simple solution without installation, this new feature represents a welcome alternative.
