The 35-year-old midfielder was a key player in the French national team that won the 2018 World Cup gold in Russia. He has previously represented clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, where he played with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Juventus.

“I have been given the opportunity to play for the biggest clubs in Europe. I have been able to wear the national team shirt and bring joy to my family. I will always take that with me,” writes Matuidi on Instagram.
Most recently, Matuidi played in the American top league, MLS, in David Beckham’s club Inter Miami.
