EVENTS IN KAZAKHSTAN

There were clashes between security forces and protesters during the demonstrations in Almaty.

On January 5, Kazakhstan President Kasım Cömert Tokayev accepted the resignation of the government, which he held responsible for the protests, and then declared a state of emergency (OHAL) across the country.

The Nur Sultan administration ordered the security forces to operate on the grounds that the demonstrators occupied public buildings, used weapons and continued to damage the property of citizens.
