The water level in Lake Vänern is to be raised

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The water level in Lake Vänern is to be raised by up to 20 centimeters during the spring.

Due to fear of flooding, the water level has been kept low for the past 15 years. The level has made shipping more difficult and negatively affected the ecosystem. Among other things, beaches have started to grow again.

– We will make a change now with an agreement from December last year and try to achieve more natural water variations, says Laila Gibson, operations manager at the Vänersamarbetet, which consists of the 13 municipalities that are located around the lake.
