The inhabitants of Mayotte have access to running water only one day out of three, the authorities announced Sunday cuts lasting 48 hours every 24 hours. For months already, drinking water has been distributed to the 300,000 inhabitants of the French department only in dribs and drabs. The two hill reserves on which the inhabitants’ drinking water supply depends are almost empty and the next rainy season is not expected until the end of the year.
