The waste water from the nuclear power plant damaged by

A huge amount of treated wastewater has accumulated in the area of the Fukushima nuclear power plant, which Japan no longer wants to store. Reporter Sara Salmi summarizes what it’s all about.

Last Thursday, Japan started dumping treated, radioactive waste water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea.

The International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA has previously declared Japan’s plans safe. It has been reported that the Japanese energy company Tepco uses, for example, a system called ALPS to clean wastewater, which is able to reduce the radioactivity of water to acceptable limits.

Japan’s actions have still raised opposition – especially in neighboring China.
