Last spring, a man who claimed to be from Brazil was deported from an airport in the Netherlands. Authorities claimed he was in fact a Russian spy. Back in Brazil, he was arrested again and sentenced to prison for identity theft.
In Norway, a man was arrested three weeks ago who posed as a Brazilian researcher, but who, according to the authorities, is a Russian so-called illegalist, or sleeping spy.
Henrik Häggström, deputy head of the analysis department at the Defense Academy, does not believe that the indictment against the two spy brothers yesterday is the last spy story that will reach the public in the near future.
– Russia is intensifying its espionage in Sweden and Europe, he says.
