The official release of World of Warcraft: The War Within is behind us. The 10th expansion is finally live.
The long wait is finally over for everyone, as the 10th expansion of World of Warcraft is now officially live. “The War Within” is now accessible to everyone who has purchased the Base or Heroic Edition of the new add-on.
Since midnight, these players have been storming Khaz Algar, questing on the Isle of Dorn, or exploring the secrets of Healingfall.
The unofficial release took place a few days earlier and was discussed quite controversially in the community.
What’s in the new addon? In terms of content, the new expansion is also quite traditional and offers what you would expect from a WoW add-on:
In addition, there is the familiar content such as new dungeons, raids, reputation factions and of course lots of collectible toys, mounts and battle pets.
This was the controversy: The fact that Blizzard is offering early access to the launch of a World of Warcraft expansion for everyone who pays €40 more and buys the Epic Edition had already caused a lot of discussion beforehand. The player base was divided into those who saw this as a nice bonus for the Epic Edition and those who saw it as an unfair advantage in terms of farmable resources.
Whether the impact on the economy will be as great as some fear will probably become clear in the next few days, but the market already seems to be fairly covered with the new resources.
What changes now? With the official launch, Early Access players can also look forward to the heroic dungeons being available now, offering at least a little more of a challenge. The bosses here already have some new abilities and the enemies can take a lot more damage than before.
But it will still be a few weeks before the “real” endgame with Mythic+, raids and challenging depths begins. The first season of The War Within will not start until maintenance on September 11, 2024 – in 14 days.
