Almost 8 million Ukrainian refugees are on the run across Europe. One of them is 12-year-old Yeva. She started writing a diary the day the war broke out. In a gold-colored notebook, she documents her experiences, from the first bombs that exploded near her and her grandmother’s home in Kharkiv, through the escape to the west and the new life in Dublin. Now it comes out in book form in Swedish, “You don’t know what war is”. The family had to leave everything, but one of Yeva’s dearest possessions, a small toy cat, was also left behind. “I miss it terribly and hope that one day I will be able to see it again and hug it,” says Yeva.
