The Wagner defector who escaped to Norway justifies his choice

Andrei Medvedev, who defected to Norway, tells the details of his escape in an interview with CNN. Medvedev says that he arrived in Norway on the ice of the lake wearing a white field suit.

According to his own account, a fugitive from the Russian mercenary company Wagner, who later defected to Norway Andrey Medvedev tells CNN (you will switch to another service) in the interview that he chose Norway instead of Finland as his escape destination because the Finnish border is better guarded.

Medvedev gave his comments to a CNN reporter Anderson Cooper in an interview where Cooper asked him how he managed to get through multiple checkpoints to Norway’s Paatsjoki, even though the border is heavily guarded.

– I would say that the Norwegian border is not as guarded as the Finnish border, Medvedev said in an interview.

Medvedev says that he arrived in Norway along the ice of the lake, dressed in a white terrain suit, which helped him blend into the terrain. He also says that he has dodged bullets from Russian forces and being arrested at least ten times.

Medvedev was previously arrested in early January when he entered Norway illegally. He has applied for asylum in Norway.

It was reported in Finland first Iltalehti (you switch to another service).
