The voice elsewhere: ventriloquism, stuttering and other accidents

The voice elsewhere ventriloquism stuttering and other accidents

The voice is an enigma. We have listened to the ventriloquists, in the Bible and in the movies. We have listened to the stutters of Ghérasim Luca or MC Solaar, the murmurs of Carmelo Bene, the silent cries of Hitchcock and Dante, the jerky howls of Bill Viola. Our exploration of these altervocalities leads each time to a hypothesis: it is when the voice derails that we begin to hear what makes it possible.
