Since the beginning of the year, an SMS phishing campaign has been gaining momentum. On the pretext of renewing the Vitale card, scammers try to convince victims to communicate their credit card number as well as other personal information.

Phishing, or phishing in English, is a form of spam consisting of impersonating a reliable person or organization in order to hack information.

It’s been a long time since fake emails circulating encouraging users to update their Vitale card. In general, they are rather crude and riddled with errors. However, scammers have launched a new campaign of phishing (or phishing) through the SMS and this time they have taken care of the details. The website cybermalveillance.gouv.fr had already reported the problem at the end of last year, but given the scale of the phenomenon health insurance published a new alert on its site.

The victim receives an SMS from an unknown number asking him to renew or update his Vitale card with a link, the address of which varies (assurance-info-login.com, verification-ameli.com, infosante-vitale.com …). By clicking on it, the victim opens a rather neat page with the Health Insurance logo and even fake news with links to the impots.gouv.fr site (but which do not work).

Fraudulent transactions, identity theft…

A first form asks for name, date of birth and e-mail address. Another asks for the mailing address and a phone number. The site then displays shipping costs, generally less than one euro, then invites you to pay by credit card. The amount is small to deceive the vigilance of the victim, but the scammers will then be able to take much more. And with the information collected, they will be able to impersonate of the victim or even to call him pretending to be his banker.

Recall that a vital card does not expire. Any update is carried out at a multiservice terminal or in a pharmacy. If you have received this kind of SMS, you can report it on the site 33700.fr or by forwarding it to number 33700. If you have answered it and communicated your card number, contact your bank immediately to object.
