The choice to renovate did not happen overnight. Previously, the Mayor and Aldermen proposed building a new town hall. Those plans failed in 2021, after which a renovation of the Leerdam town hall came into view. After the renovation, all civil servants can go to the new town hall, instead of being spread across multiple locations.
