In “Nyhetsmorgon” on TV4, features, interviews and cooking are offered daily, and on Friday there was a news panel – consisting of the lawyer Thomas BodstromDN’s head of culture Björn Wiman and Expressen’s editorial writer Linda Jerneck – which took place in the studio.
The fact that the EU Parliament voted to raise the age limit, from 15 years to 16 years, to drive epa tractors was the subject of the panel’s discussion. And Jerneck quickly stated that she does not believe that a higher age limit will play any major role in terms of accident statistics.
– The Epa tractors provide a certain freedom for young people who live where there is not much public transport. I would say that the important thing, if you want to do something about the accidents, is to make sure that you stop the trimming and then I think that you should put the parents to the test. Take dad’s note if it’s the case that the teenager is driving a tuned epa tractor, she said the program.

After the broadcast, a clip from the news panel’s discussion was shared on Facebook.
“Put a stop to the tuning of epa tractors – otherwise dad’s driver’s license will smoke, says Expressen’s lead writer Linda Jerneck. Do you agree?”, the post said.
And among viewers who answered the question, opinions were divided. This is what some of those who were positive about the proposal wrote:
“Amazingly good.”
“Quite right! We parents are responsible for our children and their upbringing!”
“Quite right! Good suggestion.”
“Absolutely! The parents are responsible! I think it’s the only way to reduce grooming, and thus fatal accidents.”
“As a parent, you have a responsibility for your children until they are of age, so yes. The parents should be the ones who get to share the blows.”

Other viewers were critical of the proposal, questioning how it would work in practice. This is what some of them wrote:
“There must be a responsibility on the person driving the vehicle. You can only inform what applies as a parent. Even during the training, they learn what applies. You cannot be with your youth in all situations, of course, so the responsibility must still lie on the driver.”
“What an idiotic proposal, if you are 15 years old, you have to take responsibility for your own actions in all crimes.”
“I think it’s wrong that the parents should lose the driver’s license, punish the youth instead. Take the vehicle from them and a hefty fine. You have to redeem the vehicle. Even if it’s the parents who have to pay, write it in the youth’s name so it stings a little .”
“What an idiotic proposal!! Who decides which driver’s license should be pulled?? If the parents don’t have a driver’s license?? If you don’t have parents???”
“And if the parent doesn’t have a driver’s license then?”
