Romances in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

In the new part of the Dragon Age series, free love is the order of the day for everyone. Regardless of the gender or race of your alter ego, all companions can enter into a relationship with you. But it should also be possible for the companions to flirt with each other and give their hearts. Fixed sexual orientations, such as those in some of the previous games, are a thing of the past.

The developers of The Veilguard also want to provide you with a group of individuals who have their own problems, motivations and backstories, and ultimately feel like realistically drawn, almost living companions.

In addition, the companions from Dragon Age 4 have a kind of relationship level. Your decisions in the game and the conversations you make with your companions affect how much a companion likes or trusts you. This in turn sooner or later unlocks talent points that you can use to activate skills for combat.

Game Director Corinne Busche explained to ign.com that you can flirt with all the characters early on, as they can end up on your team during the first chapter. However, things will probably only get romantic and even downright saucy (keyword: naked facts) in the later parts of the role-playing game. But it won’t be as crazy as in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The relationship with the companions

All seven companions have their own quests that allow you to deepen your relationship with the characters. They also form one of the most important sources of experience for your companions. Otherwise, you influence your relationship with the companions through unique conversations and the decisions you make in the game.

According to the developers, romance is not automatically the final goal. On ea.com it says: “These quests and bonds are not limited to romantic interests; platonic friendships are just as important in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.”

What is Dragon Age: The Veilguard? The game comes from the game developer Bioware. It is the fourth part of the main series after Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. The game was originally known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. You can find out more here: Dragon Age: The Veilguard – Everything about the release, release date and companions
