You can achieve different endings in Dragon Age: The Veilguard depending on how you choose to play the game. But you only have an option if you complete certain tasks beforehand. MeinMMO tells you how you see the secret ending.
Spoiler warning: This is about the ending of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. We’ll tell you how to get to the end and what you can see there. If you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t read any further!
What is the secret ending? At the end of The Veilguard you defeat the elf gods and have to cut the connection to the veil again. But to do this you need another god instead of the one who has now fallen.
The only other tangible elf god, however, is Solas, or the dire wolf, who accompanies you throughout the game. By default, your only options are to fight him or trick him to bind him to the veil.
However, there is another possibility: If you have previously dealt with the history of Fen’Harel, you can “redeem” him. He then voluntarily goes into the veil to repent. But that requires preparation.
Unlock Secret Ending – This is what you have to do
There are some requirements that you must have met for the secret ending. On the one hand, you need the “dread wolf’s approval.” You can get this by not firing at him too much in conversations with Solas, but by showing him that you are ready to make tough decisions.
You also have to complete the quest “Remorse of the Dire Wolf”. You will receive this after you have found six wolf statues. You will receive one of these statues from the Inquisitor during the campaign. You can find the five more in Solas’ memories in the intersection.
Once you have all the statues, you have to place them on pedestals in the common room of the lighthouse. Each time a cutscene is triggered that provides you with important information about the dire wolf’s background.
After the sixth reminder you will be called back to the intersection. Morrigan is waiting for you there with the next part of the quest. She reveals that part of the elf goddess Mythal lives within her and a fragment of the goddess can be found in the crossroads.
To convince Solas to do the right thing, you need Mythal’s help. Morrigan gives some tips on how to get these.
Convince Mythal – This is the solution
If you follow the quest marker, you will find the ghostly elf in the corresponding area. You then have the opportunity to talk to her. If you choose the wrong answer, Mythal will get angry and you will have to fight her in her dragon form.
This shouldn’t happen.
For the best ending, you have to convince her without a fight, so that she will help you sufficiently later. The following conversation options will allow Mythal to help you:
The Fragment of Mythal will then feel “alive” instead of “painful” and you will receive support from Mythal in the fight against both the Corrupted Dragon and Elgar’nan.
In the final decision of the game you have the option under “More” to convince Solas with the help of Mythal’s fragment.
Unlock secret cutscene – This is what you need
In addition to Solas’ redemption, there is another mystery. After the credits, there is a secret scene in which a mysterious voice explains their plans. Who exactly that is will not be revealed.
To see this cutscene, you need to find three strange floating disks in the game. The discs are in the following positions:
Getting the “best ending” for Solas – Here’s how
There is a third secret scene that you can only unlock under very special conditions. In this, Solas is not only saved in the end, he goes into the veil with his lover in order to endure there together.
However, you have to already during character creation make the right decisions. After your character is created, you need to customize your Inquisitor accordingly:
Then during the story you have to talk to the Inquisitor about Solas and convince him that Solas can be saved. Otherwise, you need the same requirements for this scene as for the “regular” secret ending.
At the end of The Veilguard you have further options, such as which companion takes on which tasks. Depending on how well you get along with your companions and how strong the factions have become, you will have a better or worse ending.
