The Vatican has appointed a bishop in the eastern province of Zheijang.

Pope Francis appointed the bishop of Hangzhou, the center of the province, as a result of the treaty with China.

Some representatives of the Catholic Church have criticized the Vatican’s rapprochement with the communist state. According to defenders of cooperation, the bishops can work for the Chinese Catholics.
