At the start of the day, the caravan of the Bassirou Diomaye Faye coalition, his replacement candidate who replaced him, left in front of the home of the opponent Ousmane Sonko, currently in prison. from the presidential race for legal reasons.
There, several dozen people gathered with posters bearing the image of the political leader and his candidate and began to sing. A special start to the campaign for this opposition party while Bassirou Diomaye Faye is himself still in detention, but he could soon be released thanks to the amnesty law passed last week.
Other candidates are also setting off caravans from Dakar, such as candidate Aliou Mamadou Dia of the Unity and Rally Party or even candidate Anta Babacar Ngom. Some, like the former mayor of Dakar Khalifa Sall, have already started on Saturday. He continues to campaign this Sunday in the capital.
The majority candidate, Amadou Ba, plans to hold meetings in Guédiawaye, a popular neighborhood in the Dakar suburbs and, notable this morning, Idrissa Seck, candidate who came second in the 2019 presidential election, plans to meet the fishermen of Ouakam before leaving for the countryside on Monday in Thiès, his stronghold. The former Prime Minister is due to speak this Sunday, after several weeks of silence.
