SUSP is an independent foundation that was founded on December 12, 2012. This establishment was a joint idea of Utrecht University, UMC Utrecht, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, the Municipality of Utrecht and the Province of Utrecht. These parties may nominate members of the Supervisory Board. But not everyone has an equal say. The UU, the UMC and the HU have a permanent member on the supervisory board. The province and municipality do not have that. One supervisor is nominated on the basis of unanimity of all five. And the supervisory board can appoint two other supervisors. The municipality and province are therefore not represented in the supervisory board. And although they were at the cradle, they no longer have any voice in the foundation.
