Sullivan published a written statement about the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş and was felt in the surrounding provinces.
Stating that the United States is deeply concerned about the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, Sullivan said:
“We are ready to provide any assistance necessary. The President (Joe) Biden has directed the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and other federal government partners to consider US response options to assist those most affected by the earthquake. In coordination with the Turkish government, the situation is closely monitored. We’ll continue to watch.”
