The US would like to participate in the WSJ journalists

The Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich has been imprisoned in Russia on suspicion of espionage since March 2023.

The United States is concerned that an American journalist accused of espionage by Evan Gershkovich the trial will take place in Russia behind closed doors.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Matthew Miller told reporters on Monday that the United States is trying to participate in the trial, but it is uncertain whether this will be possible.

The trial will start at the end of the month in Yekaterinburg.

The editor of The Wall Street Journal has been imprisoned since spring 2023. He has denied the espionage charges.
