The US is recalling parts of the embassy staff in Niger, the State Department says. American citizens are also advised against traveling to Niger.
Last week Niger’s elected president Mohamed Bazoum was ousted in a military coup.
“Terrorists can attack with little or no warning, targeting foreign and local government facilities and areas frequented by Westerners,” writes the US Foreign Ministry.
