The Republicans have 222 representatives in the House of Representatives and the new chairman should get 218 representatives behind him. So far, McCarthy has received the support of a maximum of 203 delegates. In Thursday’s final vote, he was supported by 200 representatives.
Despite this, McCarthy has assured that he will continue to run for chairman.
The representatives of the Democrats have supported their own candidate in all the votes We’re looking for Jeffries.
The rebel wing, on the other hand, has voted for several different people, including the ex-president Donald Trump. Trump himself has appealed to his rebellious party members to vote for McCarthy. However, the appeals have not been effective.
