The US government announces new military aid to Ukraine of 988 million dollars, equivalent to 10.8 billion kroner. The decision is taken in Washington DC in an attempt to convey as much support as possible to Ukraine before the future US President Donald Trump takes office.
The latest support package concerns drones, ammunition for the Himars air defense system and spare parts for tanks, armored vehicles and artillery systems.
Unlike several previous aid shipments, the latest package of supplies will not be drawn from US military stockpiles. Instead, the products are ordered from the defense industry, which extends the delivery time.
Just under a week ago, the Pentagon announced a support shipment of 725 million dollars. Then the US decided to send additional land mines and, among other things, anti-tank missiles to Ukraine.
