The agency responsible for broadcast media, the FCC, said on Friday that it has adopted final rules that prohibit the sale or importation of equipment deemed to pose a national security risk to the United States.
The measure, required by a 2021 law, will affect Huawei Technologies, ZTE Corp and Hytera Communications, among others, according to an FCC statement.
– The measures we are taking today include base station equipment that enters our networks. It covers phones, cameras and WiFi routers that go into our homes, Jessica Rosenworcel, the chair of the FCC, said, according to Financial Times.
