Annually, Stockholm’s student nation in Uppsala organizes a champagne gallop during the last April celebration. The Champagne Gallop is a tradition in Uppsala’s student life on the last day of April, which consists of drinking champagne or sparkling wine at one of the student nations immediately after putting on caps at Carolina Rediviva. The name comes from the fact that one should traditionally run from the putting on of the cap to a nation.
This year, the nation of Stockholm has purchased a total of 4,000 bottles of bubbly – and despite the tougher economic situation, the purchase of bottles has not changed. The last bottles arrived on Monday.
– Valborg is not a profit-making project for us, it is more about giving back to the students, says Joakim Elmström, first curator at Stockholms nation.
